Subtractive manufacturing, or the process of taking materials and breaking them down (molding if you will) into specific shapes and sizes, has been a process in 3D printing and industrial work for a long time. Additive manufacturing looks to challenge that with shaping objects by adding new materials over top of previous ones, in hopes of providing a more efficient method of production and cutting cost of labor.
