Developers are working on a technology that will be able to detect emotion through human expression. While the tech is still new and/or in development, further testing is required (despite potential being spotted within its use by law enforcement). The AI Now Institute calls to impose restrictions on it, saying it should “be banned from use in important decisions that affect people’s lives and/or determine their access to opportunities”.
